Cong Moytura Heritage Society are hosting an illustrated talk about the life of Sir William Wilde at 8:30pm on Wednesday 21st January in the Crossroads Community Centre, Cong.

Wilde (the father of Oscar Wilde) had many connections to the west of Ireland. He was born two hundred years ago near Castlerea and had homes in Connemara and near Cong – the home of his maternal grandparents. He is remembered locally for his book about Lough Corrib and Lough Mask but achieved many things during his lifetime.

The talk will explore his fascinating life as well as his connections to Mayo.

Admission to the talk is free and refreshments will be served. More information is available from congmoyturaheritagesociety@gmail.com.
